If you're in Seattle we highly recommend you catch Garek Druss July 20th at The Chapel Performance Space in Seattle (more info here)

Garek Jon Druss
*Garek J Druss will be performing two new pieces from his forthcoming release on Further records, The Wellspring of Light. These new works were written and developed during an artist in residence program in Finland and marks a distinct and new chapter in Druss' solo work.
Garek Druss is a sound and visual artist who creates work to explore the balance between the physical being and the incorporeal, or non- being. His vibrant soundscapes create temporary ambient interactions that examine the human condition and its struggle to understand the ethereal vastness of the spirit. By manipulating frequency, melody, and rhythm, his work confronts an unrevealed inner expanse, simultaneously as a terrifying and uncontrollable happening and as an experience that is in its radical transformative-ness.

Catch King Woman, Wax Idols and Pentagram at Studio Seven in Seattle TOMORROW (may 17th)!

One of our favorite bands, MRS. MAGICIAN curates the first mixtape of our rebooted mixtape series where we ask artists to share songs with us that reflect their personal taste (how ever weird and freaky it may get).  Look forward to more mix tapes from more of your favorite and our favorite bands.

Past contributors to this have been Fenriz (from Darkthrone), George Clarke (from Deafheaven), Chelsea Wolfe (from Chelsea Wolfe).

Catch Mrs. Magician on tour in a city near you!  Their new single drops tomorrow on record store day from their upcoming album BERMUDA which is out May 20th.

Originating in the town of Bellingham, WA and comprised of vocalist Nate McAdams, guitarists F. Funds and E. Wallace, bassist Elijah Nelson, and drummer J. Byrum Seattle-based Black Breath quickly established themselves as a popular Emerald City concert draw thanks to their crust-laden, metal-infused hardcore style, inspired by bands like Discharge, Poison Idea, and Wolverine Blues-era Entombed (who once covered the Repulsion track named “Black Breath,” coincidentally).

January of 2008 saw the independent release of the band’s four-track EP, Razor to Oblivion, which eventually made its way into the hands of the Southern Lord label, and resulted in a contract for the band’s debut full-length, Heavy Breathing, which hit the streets in early 2010. The group’s sophomore effort, Sentenced to Life, arrived in 2012, again on Southern Lord, followed in 2015 by Slaves Beyond Death. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia

HEALTH: Death Magic Tour 2015 with Pictureplane + Ian Hicks (from Soft Metals)

Online ticket sales end one hour prior to show.
All ticket sales are nonrefundable & nonexchangeable.

HEALTH is an noise rock band consisting of four members including Benjamin Jared Miller, Jake Duzsik, John Famiglietti, and Jupiter Keyes. All are from different cities including Seattle, San Diego, and their current home base, Los Angeles.

Jake met Jupiter in college. John met Jake in a guitar store. Jared was drawn to the fold by way of Internet courtship.

The band is often considered noise rock, but besides having some slight elements of the genre, they don’t fit the sound of other, current bands included in the noise rock scene, due to them mixing such genres as dance and electronica.

Our friend Chad Merritt will be doing an art show at The Belfry (309A 3rd Ave S, Seattle, WA 98104) of his insane papercut work tomorrow December 3rd from 6-9pm!

This show is one day only! See you there!

Youth Code, Night Sins, Crypts - 10/1/13 - CHOP SUEY 09/30/13

We are very excited to be bringing Youth Code to Seattle for their first time ever!  Come to Chop Suey tomorrow and dance your asses off with us!

Los Angeles Duo Youth Code are raw, punishing, industrious electronics built from the seeds of hardcore and early Wax Trax. Ryan William George and Sara Taylor blend chaos with catchy dance undertones to create a sonic fury paralleled to none. Formed in 2012, Using all hardware to perform, Youth Code have already proven their path with being the first band outside of Psychic TV to be put out by PTV’s own label ” Angry Love Productions ” as well as a full length LP on the flawless Dais Records roster due out this summer.

“Night Sins is aural proof this side of the Atlantic that life does not walk so dark all over Europe alone. Emerging sometime around 2010 under the oppressive skies of Philadelphia, these overcast malcontents are fitly connected to a city engrossed in shadow-soaked vices and dilapidated architecture. Not to imply that there isn’t a comforting sort of gloominess in this musical malaise, as Night Sins frolic down the musical path originally cut by The Sisters of Mercy and Clan of Xymox with enough hints of The Mission and extensions into 80′s darkwave to produce memorable songwriting that stands on it’s own. Bass and drums punch through the mist thick as thieves, guitar lines circle like falcons overhead, minimal synths street clean some of the residual dirt, and singer-songwriter Kyle Kimball’s vocals confidently press into the intimate fog. There is a brilliant light in the midst of dimness, and Night Sins is carrying the torch.” -Dean Troxell

Mark Mitchell: Burial 09/20/13

Mark Mitchell. Burial Ensemble, Davora, 2013. Silk gauze, silk crepe, wool, wood. Photos: Kelly O.

Tonight the Frye Art Museum is opening it's doors for the reception of the new exhibition by Mark Mitchell entitled "Burial".  Mitchell, a long time peer in the clothing industry (we used to sling drinks at the same bar as well) here in Seattle has recently discovered a new passion within his craft, namely by creating the clothes you'd wear to that final send off, your very own funeral.  Read what the Frye has to say about this morbidly beautiful artform below:

Addressing ceremony and tribute, transformation and release, Mark Mitchell: Burial will present ensembles to clothe the dead. Buried in the earth, incinerated, or at the bottom of the sea, these vestments are intended to degrade readily, leaving nothing behind. Each was inspired by, and created for, the nine muse/models who will present the collection in a live performance on September 20. This will be followed by an exhibition of the ensembles September 21–October 20.

And check out this great documentary about Mitchell below:

The reception is tonight, don't miss out on this!

Actual Pain Presents: Cut Hands & Black Rain 05/20/13

We are beyond pleased to be bringing back Cut Hands to Seattle on June 7th! For those of you who don't know, Cut Hands is the latest project from William Bennett of the legendary power electronic group Whitehouse. If you were lucky enough to see his performance last year at Decibel Festival, you know it is not to be missed. Bennett seamlessly combines the harsh tones he crafted to an art from in Whitehouse with the unpredictable poly rhythms of Afro-Beat creating some of the most original experimental dance music we've ever heard.

We will have a limited number of these hand screened posters for sale at the show.

Also along for the ride is Blackest Ever Black cohort (and legend in his own right) Black Rain from NYC for his first ever live performance in Seattle. Black Rain is Stuart Argabright, founding member of Ike Yard and producer behind the cult dance group Dominatrix. Argabright's been making experimental music since the 70's and his music in Black Rain could easily be an alternate score for any 80s cyber punk movie. It conjures the landscape of an industrial future, where the concrete jungles have given birth to tribalism and all laws have been left behind. It's music fitting the futurism of Blade Runner only further down it's entropic path towards humanities inevitable collapse and it sounds really fucking cool.

Killing Joke "The Singles Collection 1979-2012" 04/23/13

We are proud to present Killing Joke next Tuesday April 30th at Neumos here in Seattle. It sounds like from the name of the tour, The Singles Collection 1979-2012, Killing Joke are planning on sticking to the hits... Tickets are almost sold out though, so don't wait, go get your's now. Here's the official tour press release:

It’s been a long adventure for Killing Joke since their conception in 1979. Since then, the band has gone through numerous internal conflicts and line up changes, the only two constant members being Jaz Coleman (vocals, keyboards and arrangements) and Geordie Walker (guitar). Last year, all founder members were finally reunited. Until meeting at the funeral of Paul Raven, former bassist for Killing Joke as well as Ministry and Prong, Jaz Coleman and Paul Ferguson (drums) had not spoken for nearly 20 years. Their reconciliation meant plans were hatched for a new album as well as for a worldwide tour which kicked off in Tokyo last September. The tour saw the foursome delivering critically acclaimed performances at sold out shows to loyal fans and new devotees alike. Notorious for their use of inflammatory imagery, a backlash against a world they perceived as ever more materialistic, unjust and conservative, Killing Joke, railed against the establishment and created a unique sound from their very conception.
